Actors to Watch 2026

Every year, a new generation of performers reminds us that the future of African cinema is in exceptional hands. While some of these actors are already making waves across the continent, others are only just beginning to step into the spotlight. What unites them is an undeniable talent, a relentless commitment to their craft, and the potential to shape the next chapter of African storytelling.

For this year’s Actors to Watch by Top Charts Africa, we invited respected actors, filmmakers, casting directors, producers, and industry professionals to share why these rising stars deserve your attention. Their words offer a personal glimpse into the artistry, work ethic, and promise that make each of these performers one to watch.

In alphabetical order, here are the 2026 Actors to Watch.

Adeoluwa Akintoba
Nigeria

Some people are wishful thinkers, others are go-getters. Adeoluwa Akintoba (Adeyybasqi) leads the pack as the latter as he’s no stranger to aiming high despite stacked odds.

Things I take from his life playbook are self-belief, paced consistency, proper positioning and sheer determination to make dreams a reality.

He truly is a force to reckon with.

Angel Unigwe
Nigeria

A lot of us knew Angel Unigwe as a child actor. I watched her projects back then, and honestly, I do not think any of us were fully prepared for what she was going to become. We literally watched her grow up in Nollywood and she has grown into one of the most remarkable actresses I have ever seen.

I got to work with her in 2024 on my project, a film called “Captured”. She played my daughter, and the bond we built on set will remain forever. She is my daughter now. Full stop. Nobody can tell me otherwise.

What I love the most about Angel is her dedication. She works hard to stay relevant, to keep growing, to keep improving, and every time you see her, you can feel it.

I love her. I am proud of her. And trust me when I say, you have not seen anything yet. What is coming will amaze you.

Blair Koono
Uganda

In recent years, a new wave of actors has emerged in Uganda’s film and theatre industry, and Blair Koono Matthias stands out among them. As a casting director and acting coach, I have closely followed his growth into a compelling performer with notable depth and range. His ability to shift between lead and supporting roles reflects a firm grasp of craft, presence, and emotional truth.

Blair Koono is undoubtedly a talent to watch as Uganda’s film industry gains global recognition.

Ejiro Onojaife
Nigeria

Ejiro is an exceptionally talented actor whose passion for her craft shines through in every performance. She consistently brings her best to every role she embodies.

From early appearances in minor roles, such as Agnes in Kemi Adetiba’s hit series King of Boys, she has steadily risen to more prominent roles in acclaimed productions like Madam Koi Koi, Behind the Scenes, Blood Sisters 2, and others.

Her dedication and talent were further recognized with an AMVCA nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2024. Her work truly speaks for itself.

I am incredibly proud of all she has achieved so far, and I believe this is only the beginning of an even greater journey ahead. Wishing her continued success in all she does.

Forever the one and only FIRECRACKER!

Foi Wambui
Kenya

One thing about Foi is she gives her all in this life. Whether it’s Career, Friendships/ Relationships or Games; she will always put her best foot forward. I have been humbled enough to experience her both on screen and on stage and it’s safe to say there’s truly no mountain that’s too steep for her.

She’s a phenomenal actor who has range. She doesn’t box herself which is something I’m trying to emulate (laughs). She went from playing such an unserious character like Blutooth on ‘Anda Kava’ to moving us to tears as Hannah on the stage play ‘Followers’. I wish I had time to tell you all about her fascinating roles but I’m on borrowed time. The sky is her footstool so watch this space

Michael Ejoor
Nigeria

I have known Michael Ejoor for about 17 years. I’ve watched him go from being a first-class graduate, to a musician, to navigating the corporate world, and now, becoming this amazing, talented and incredibly disciplined actor. That journey alone tells you everything you need to know about who he is.

What sets Michael apart is not just his talent, but how intentional he is. His craft has placed him in front of some incredible names in this industry, and that’s because he shows up, every single time, with discipline, with purpose, and with a work ethic that’s impossible to ignore.

I am so proud of where he is coming from and even more excited about where he is going. Nigeria already knows his name, but the world is about to. Michael Ejoor is about to take it all by storm. And I am so proud of him.

Sharon Rotimi
Nigeria

My Shar Bear or STARON as people fondly call her. It’s so easy to rate her because she carries such a light around her. Partly because of her flawless skin! But more importantly, because She never pretends to be anything other than herself.

She carries this into every role she takes on and leaves the audience starstruck. Heck, as her friend, I still get starstruck. She genuinely cares about the craft and pours so much into it, I’ve seen it in real time, and she is such a generous scene partner!
She is a joy to work with and a dream for every actor and audience. She will FOREVER be Rated!

Thandolwethu Zondi
South Africa

If you have been watching African screen storytelling over the past two years, you have already seen Thandolwethu Zondi. You might not yet know his name, but you have felt his presence. The camera finds him, holds him, and does not want to let go.

Here is the thing that matters most: Olly has never been to drama school. Everything he brings to the screen, he built himself.

Directors call him back. Producers ask when he is next available. Crew members speak about him with genuine warmth, which is the currency that matters in this industry. He is professional, present, reliable, and he treats everyone he encounters with the same respect.

At twenty-four, Olly Zondi is only just getting started.

Uzoamaka Power
Nigeria

It’s one thing to be talented; it’s another to be deeply committed to your craft and see things through with excellence, passion, and consistency. That’s who Uzoamaka Power is. Having worked with her closely, I’ve seen firsthand the discipline, care, and intentionality she brings to everything she does. She never settles for simply getting something done; she is always pushing to make it the best it can be.

Written by Blessing Uzzi

The first time I saw Uzoamaka Power in anything was on MTV Shuga. I identified with that character in many ways and was reminded of my own time in secondary school. Of course, what made the performance even more memorable was the dexterity and honesty Uzoamaka brought to the role, announcing her early on as one of the finest actors of her generation.
