Top Charts Africa Announces On The Reel, a New Creative Series Spotlighting Emerging Abuja Artists — Premiering May 23

Top Charts Africa is set to launch On The Reel, a new original content series dedicated to highlighting emerging artists through structured storytelling, conversation, and visual content. The series officially premieres May 23 on Norté.

On The Reel is designed as a platform for discovery, offering audiences a closer look into the voices, creative processes, and personalities shaping a new generation of talent. Through a combination of interviews, creative expression, and digital-first storytelling, the series aims to bridge the gap between emerging artists and wider audiences.

Season 1 focuses on Abuja’s growing creative scene, featuring artists including FirstKlaz, Zilla Oaks, Soundboi BME and more. Each episode centers on a single artist, exploring their creative identity and perspective while presenting them in a format tailored for today’s digital audience.

The series is being rolled out in partnership with several culture-focused media platforms, with Music Custodian serving as the National Media Partner, alongside Abuja-based media partners The Capital Movement and Abuja Events.

Speaking on the launch, the team behind Top Charts Africa describes On The Reel as part of a broader effort to create platforms that not only showcase talent, but properly contextualize it.

“We’re interested in more than visibility. On The Reel is about creating space for artists to be understood. Their stories, their thinking, and their creative direction. It’s about presenting emerging talent in a way that feels intentional, contemporary, and globally relevant.”

The series follows a structured rollout across seven episodes, with each release supported by a wider content ecosystem including artist announcement visuals, artist-led introduction videos, promotional assets, and short-form clips designed to extend engagement beyond the episodes themselves.

While Season 1 is centered on Abuja, On The Reel is designed as a multi-city format, with future seasons set to spotlight emerging creatives from different cities across Nigeria and across the continent. The long-term vision for the platform is to document and amplify diverse creative ecosystems through thoughtful storytelling and accessible digital media.

Distributed via Norté and supported by Top Charts Africa’s digital platforms and media partners, On The Reel represents a new step in how emerging African talent is presented, documented, and engaged with in the digital era.

The first episode premieres May 23.
